Adam Johnstone - Director
Between 1999 and 2002 I fulfilled the role of Natural Church Development (NCD) coordinator for The Salvation Army Australia Eastern Territory - a position offered to me through the brave vision of Major Colin Daines. During this time I began to work on various projects with Ian Campbell, the then Director of the Australian NCD Partnership. In 2002 I began to work directly with the NCD partnership on a part-time basis. At the beginning of 2005, Ian took the extraordinarily empowering step of suggesting we swap roles whereby I would become the Director of NCD Australia. By January 2009, NCD Australia, now led by myself and my colleague Liam Glover, has worked with 1800 Australian Churches across 25 denominations and movements with the help of many excellent denominational NCD people. It has grown to be the 3rd largest NCD ministry in the world and the churches involved show the strongest rate of quality improvement internationally.
After a stint of team-teaching Natural Church Development (NCD) with Christian Schwarz in South Africa in 2004, he asked me to become the Color Your World Director for NCD International. This involves the strategic rollout and resourcing of the various NCD 'Color' resources. To this point, they include Color Your World with Natural Church Development, The 3 Colors of Love, The 3 Colors of Ministry and, in September 2009, The 3 Colors of Your Spirituality. Each of these projects involve concept development, the writing of implementation tools, development of web sites including data management systems, piloting and promotion. In this capacity, I am also responsible for contributing to the broader strategic direction of the NCD International ministry now incorporating 60,000 churches across 72 countries on all continents.
Organic Quality Management (OQM) is a para-church version of the NCD survey system. It can be used to measure the quality and therefore mission effectiveness of any Christian-based institution (eg. Christian Schools, rehabilitation centres, denominational headquarters, Christian Radio Stations, etc.) Liam Glover and myself as the directors of OQM Australia began the rollout of this process in late 2008 with very strong interest indicating that the uptake of OQM will increase dramatically in 2009.
